Do you feel like a wrinkly apple?
One minute the apple is fresh and plump then the next minute it is looking sad and wrinkled, the only thing left for the poor apple life is an apple pie. However, this is not the case for you! Restoring youthful vigor and vitality to your skin is possible. As with all my articles, I’m going to give you a very brief and simple explanation on why our skin ages and what can be done to rejuvenate your skin.
Why does our skin start resembling a wrinkly apple?
Our skin is made up of 2 layers - the epidermis and dermis. It’s the dermis that gives the skin it’s volume, strength and elasticity, thanks to the collagen and elastic fibers that make up the dermis. However, as we age there is a decrease in fibroblast activity leading to a reduction in collagen synthesis. This leads to a loss of collagen and elastin in the dermis, which on the surface of the skin resembles fine lines, wrinkles and skin laxity.
So, what causes this reduction in collagen and elastin synthesis? The biggest factor is SUN! UV exposure over time will destroy the dermal elastin network, the consequences of a sagging and wrinkly skin. The other factor is we are human, so sorry to break it to you we are going to age. Skin aging is also a result of physiological changes over time due to genetic factors. However, there are ways to prevent premature aging and if you are at the stage of life looking like a wrinkly apple there is hope for you too.
Now you know why your skin can look like a wrinkly apple, I can now move onto the exciting part - How do you prevent your skin from looking like a wrinkly apple?
The Answer - Skin Rejuvenation treatments, now I know it is a cliché word but the right skin rejuvenation treatment will give you your bounce and vitality back into your skin.
What Is the best Skin Rejuvenation treatment?
There are many different skin rejuvenation treatments on the market, it all comes down to what one is the most effective and will deliver results. As I mentioned previously, a decrease in collagen and elastin synthesis in the dermis is what causes fine lines and wrinkles. So an effective skin rejuvenation treatment needs to target the dermis. This is why I love RF for skin rejuvenation.
RF (radio frequency) devices have become very popular for skin rejuvenation treatments due to faster recovery, shorter downtime, and very minimal side effects. RF machines use electromagnetic energy to generate heat in the dermis which causes the contraction of collagen and elastin fibers in the dermis tissue initiating new collagen formation.
Now you know the how, why and what of skin rejuvenation, it’s time to wake up and plump up that dermis.
