Acne scarring can leave your skin feeling uneven, lumpy and aged. However, there are treatments that can correct and improve the appearance of acne scars. Skin Needling (Dermapen), Fractional resurfacing and resurfacing medium depth peels all have the ability to correct and improve scar tissue. Depending on the type of scar and the depth will determine which treatment is best, however, with my own acne scarring I both skin needling, peels and fractional.
The reason for this is each treatment will stimulate and remodel collagen in a different way, giving the skin a more smoother and brighter glow. It's the same as the gym, different arm exercises will work the muscles in a different creating an overall defined look.
Why Does Acne Scarring Happen
After a wound or injury the body will undergo repair, regeneration or tissue replacement, depending on the severity of the wound or injury will determine how the body heals. In most cases, the body will heal via tissue replacement which results in a scar. Acne scaring occurs during the healing stage of active acne. Inflammation causes damage to the tissue or follicle resulting in tissue damage. If the inflammation process is prolonged, scar tissue will develop.
